Pedro Pascal is set to star in 'The Brigands of Rattlecreek'
Pedro Pascal is set to star alongside Matthew McConaughey, Austin Butler and Tang Wei in The Brigands of Rattlecreek, a new western thriller from acclaimed filmmaker Park Chan-wook.
The film, based on an original screenplay by S. Craig Zahler, is described as a gritty tale of vengeance and retribution set in the American West.
It will explore themes of violence, memory and family, and is being positioned as a major creative statement in Park’s career.
Park, best known for films such as Oldboy and The Handmaiden, is expected to bring his signature visual style and emotional intensity to the genre, marking another international project following his recent work in global cinema.
According to early descriptions, the story is an “emotionally explosive and visually stunning meditation” on the consequences of violence and the cost of survival.
The project is set to be introduced to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival, where Park is serving as jury president.
International sales are being handled by Legendary’s 193 label and producer Patrick Wachsberger.
Production will be overseen by Moho Film, with Bradley Fischer also producing and Mike Medavoy among the executive producers.
With a high-profile cast and one of cinema’s most distinctive directors attached, The Brigands of Rattlecreek has already emerged as one of the most closely watched projects on the international film market.
