Lizzo has made a powerful return to the music scene, marking her 38th birthday with the announcement of her highly anticipated third studio album, titled "Bitch".
The chart-topping artist confirmed that the new project is set for release on 5 June, promising a bolder and louder creative direction.
In a characteristically unapologetic statement, Lizzo revealed that the album draws significant inspiration from the iconic 1990s anthem of the same name by Meredith Brooks, aiming to redefine the controversial term.
"Reclaiming the word 'bitch' is power," the "Pink" hitmaker stated, explaining her desire to own a term that was historically intended as an insult.
She further clarified her vision, noting, "It's taking a label once used to diminish women and turning it into a declaration of confidence and unapologetic self-love."
Lizzo was also quick to acknowledge the musical pioneers who preceded her in this endeavour, citing "incredible women" such as Meredith Brooks and Missy Elliot who previously utilised the word to promote positivity and female empowerment.
The announcement follows a period of intense professional activity for the star. She recently released the single "Don't Make Me Love U" and completed a prestigious residency at the Blue Note Jazz Club, where she performed 12 sold-out shows across Los Angeles and New York.
Additionally, she recently delivered an electrifying performance at the Houston Rodeo earlier this month, entertaining a massive crowd of 70,000 fans.
This upcoming album marks her first full-length studio effort since her previous global tour concluded.
