Ex-boyfriend shoots stalked woman 14 times in horrific 911 incident
A chilling 911 call marked the final moments of 34-year-old Gloria Choi
A chilling 911 call marked the final moments of 34-year-old Gloria Choi, a Washington hotel manager who was gunned down by her stalking ex-boyfriend after months of escalating obsession.
“I have no idea where I am… I’m too frightened to leave my vehicle… He has a weapon,” Gloria told dispatchers on January 2, 2022, moments before gunfire erupted.
Responding officers from Lakewood Police Department found Gloria locked inside her truck, riddled with bullets. She later died at hospital after being shot 14 times.
Prosecutors say the gunman was Billy Rickman, Gloria’s former boyfriend, who allegedly forced her vehicle off the road before firing nine shots through her window and door.
As Gloria’s truck rolled forward, Rickman made a U-turn, pulled alongside her again and fired five additional rounds “to ensure she was dead,” according to former prosecutor Greg Greer.
Investigators quickly linked the killing to Rickman through Gloria’s hotel lanyard, recognising her as the same woman who had recently reported being stalked by an ex.
Surveillance footage and phone records later traced Rickman to a nearby motel, where he was allegedly seen wiping down his rental truck and making frantic calls after the shooting.
Friends say Gloria’s relationship with Rickman began as a whirlwind romance in 2021, when he checked into her family’s California hotel and charmed both Gloria and her young son with gifts and affection.
But behind the attentive façade, warning signs soon surfaced, including controlling behavior and threats toward her family.
By the time Gloria tried to escape, prosecutors say, Rickman had turned fixation into murder.
