Nicholas Galitzine, Ella Purnell thriller ‘The Return of Stanley Atwell’ first look revealed

Ella Purnell and Nicholas Galitzine sport their best aristocratic glares in the first sneak peek of the "seductive" thriller "The Return of Stanley Atwell."

Currently being filmed in the UK and Malta, the movie has also added Damian Lewis to the lineup.

The "Band of Brothers" and "Homeland" actor appears dapper and contemplative from a smoky bar in a new photo.

"The Return of Stanley Atwell" is brought to you by Hera Pictures, known for its BAFTA and Oscar nominations and recent acclaim for "Hamnet." The film is co-produced with John Gore Studios.

Joining Lewis in the film are Jess Alexander (“The Beauty,” “Amadeus”), Adrian Rawlins (“Rose of Nevada,” “Slow Horses”), and Will Keen (“His Dark Materials,” “The Crown”).

Penned and helmed by Brian Welsh (“Beats,” “Black Mirror”), “The Return of Stanley Atwell” originates from a tale by Oscar winner Steven Soderbergh, who also serves as an executive producer.

This film marks Welsh’s second partnership with Soderbergh, following "Beats," and his second with Liza Marshall and Hera Pictures after the BAFTA-nominated BBC drama “What It Feels Like for a Girl.”

According to the story, Stanley Atwell (Galitzine), presumed dead, reclaims his position as the heir to Lord Atwell’s wealth when he suddenly shows up at the family's estate after disappearing for ten mysterious years.

His sudden return disrupts the estate as his sister Beatrice vies for his inheritance, friend Pamela (Purnell) schemes with his return and hidden family secrets to gain control of the Atwell fortune.

Lust, intrigue, and betrayal run rampant across the estate as the foundation of lies on which the Atwell family stands begins to crumble. Just how far will each member go to secure their status and fortune, and what lies beneath Stanley Atwell’s comeback?

“Having Damian Lewis portray Barnaby Towan in The Return of Stanley Atwell is a remarkable pleasure,” Welsh expressed.

“He infuses the role with humor, depth, and unexpected twists. Damian is a delightful addition to the cast, and we're thrilled he joined us.”

Produced by Marshall for Hera, the film also sees John Gore from John Gore Studios (“My Duchess,” “The Queen of Fashion.”) as a producer.

Soderbergh holds the executive producer role alongside Hilary Strong and Francis Hopkinson for John Gore Studios, and Dave Bishop and George Hamilton for Protagonist Pictures.
