Dua Lipa files $15M lawsuit against Samsung over alleged image misuse

Dua Lipa has taken legal action against Samsung, filing a multimillion-dollar lawsuit over the alleged unauthorized use of her image in a marketing campaign.

According to details shared by Los Angeles-based attorney Rob Freund on X, the Levitating singer is suing Samsung for reportedly using her photograph on television packaging without permission, creating the impression that she had endorsed the company’s products.

The lawsuit, filed in the Central District of California, seeks around $15 million in damages and includes claims of violation of publicity rights, false endorsement, copyright infringement, and trademark misuse.

In her complaint, Lipa alleges that Samsung financially benefited from the use of her image on its TV boxes as part of a wider marketing campaign launched in 2025, without any formal agreement or endorsement deal in place.

The filing further states that the image used by the company was copyrighted and taken backstage at the Austin City Limits Festival in 2024, where Lipa was photographed without authorizing commercial usage rights.

The singer also claims she contacted Samsung after discovering the packaging and requested that her image be removed, but the company allegedly declined to comply.

Lipa described the response as “dismissive and callous,” according to the legal filing.

Samsung has not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of reporting.

The case highlights ongoing concerns in the entertainment industry around image rights and the commercial use of celebrity likenesses in advertising without explicit consent.
