Egyptian newcomer Mido, 41, and his American fiancée Debby, 55, found themselves at the centre of a bitter row just days after he relocated from Egypt to New Orleans, as seen on Sunday's episode of 90 Day Fiancé.
Mido has made little secret of his ambitions to become a film star in the United States, and has claimed to already be a recognised movie star in Egypt — though Debby has admitted she has never seen a single one of his films.
First night together raises red flags
The pair spent their first night together in New Orleans on Sunday's episode. Due to Mido's Muslim faith, he is not permitted to be intimate with Debby until the two are officially married.
In an effort to avoid tempting him whilst sharing a bed, Debby chose to wear a long-sleeved, floor-length flannel nightgown — a gesture Mido responded to with open laughter.
"She was not sexy at all," he told cameras bluntly, making clear he had felt no temptation whatsoever.
When a producer asked whether he was concerned that the couple might not be sexually compatible after marriage, Mido acknowledged it was a genuine worry.
"After marriage, Debbie and I can be intimate, but if I'm not comfortable with her, I will leave her," he said.
Hollywood ambitions cause friction
After a day out exploring New Orleans together, Mido asked Debby how far they were from Hollywood. He was visibly taken aback when she told him the drive would take several days.
He wasted little time in pressuring her to uproot her life and relocate to Hollywood so that he could pursue his acting career, arguing that it should not be a significant ask given that he had already made the journey from Egypt.
Debby was reluctant to commit, and confided to cameras that she was uncertain whether Mido would remain with her if his Hollywood ambitions failed to materialise.
Argument erupts over phone blunder
Tensions reached a head as the couple prepared to move into a new flat together. Mido was visibly withdrawn upon their arrival, demanding to see his room immediately so he could lie down.
Debby told cameras the pair had already had a significant row on the way there, over what she described as something "so freaking stupid."
"He wanted a video of him driving the truck, I didn't hit video. I didn't realize it," she explained. "I hit a picture and he went off. And I was just like, 'OK, no, I don't think so.'"
Mido, however, offered an entirely different account of the same incident.
"The argument with Debbie started when I require from her to give me a video, and after that I saw her phone — she not take a video, she take a photo," he said. "I told her, 'It's OK, habibi, we can repeat that again.' And she threw her phone on my face."
"She should be running and hug me, 'I'm sorry,' but she didn't say that," he added.
Debby draws a firm line
Mido told Debby directly that he was not happy. She replied in kind, making clear the feeling was mutual. Speaking to cameras afterwards, Debby made it plain she had no intention of backing down.
"I don't really care if he's happy or not, he better get happy," she said.
She also pushed back on Mido's habit of demanding she document his every move for social media content.
"I don't document every two steps that I take because I don't think it's necessary," she said firmly.
"I will not continuously sit back and be some doormat that I'm going to get walked all over and treated a certain kind of way. That is not how things will go."
