Tom Hanks shares playful marriage advice for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce
The actor joked that a happy marriage starts with making waffles on Sundays
Tom Hanks is sharing a playful piece of marriage advice for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce as the engaged couple prepares for their highly anticipated wedding later this year.
The 69-year-old Oscar-winning actor, who has been married to Rita Wilson for 38 years, drew on his long-lasting relationship when offering guidance to the high-profile couple during a recent interview with E! News.
When asked what advice he would give Swift and Kelce, Hanks responded with characteristic humor: “The man must make the waffles on Sunday.”
The comment quickly stood out as a lighthearted take on married life from one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples, known for their decades-long partnership and frequent public support of one another.
Swift and Kelce are expected to tie the knot at Madison Square Garden, with reports suggesting their wedding may take place over the July 3–5 weekend.
The guest list is rumored to include several A-list names, including Ed Sheeran, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Zoë Kravitz, Karlie Kloss, the Haim sisters, and Suki Waterhouse.
While Hanks and Wilson may not attend the ceremony, their long-standing marriage continues to be cited as an example of stability in Hollywood.
The couple has often spoken about the foundations of their relationship, including mutual respect and compatibility.
Hanks previously described the secret to their marriage as simply “finding each other,” and has frequently praised Wilson as someone who brings ease and balance to his life.
In earlier interviews, Hanks has referred to Wilson as his “lover,” emphasizing the deep emotional bond they share beyond traditional labels.
“I view my wife as my lover, and we have a bond that goes beyond words like wife or girlfriend or mother,” he said in a past conversation with Oprah Winfrey.
He has also credited their connection with shaping his performances in films such as Philadelphia and Forrest Gump, saying his real-life relationship helped him understand the emotional depth of his characters.
Reflecting on their marriage in a 2013 interview, Hanks described it as “carefree and easy,” noting that he immediately felt he had found the right partner when they met.
“When I met Rita, I thought, ‘Oh, this is what it’s supposed to be like when you are married to someone,’” he said.
