Matt Damon reveals his favorite karaoke song and the Boston classic he always chooses

Matt Damon knows exactly which song he reaches for when it is time to step up to the karaoke microphone.

The 55-year-old Oscar winner revealed that his go-to karaoke track is Sweet Caroline, saying the classic tune always gets people involved.

“I always go with ‘Sweet Caroline,’” Damon shared during a June 15 appearance on the Are You Okay? show. “It gets everybody singing along.”

For the Boston-born actor, the choice carries special meaning.

The Neil Diamond hit has become closely associated with Boston sports culture and is widely recognized as a fan-favorite anthem, making it a natural choice for Damon.

While Damon admitted he is not planning to launch a music career anytime soon, he joked about his vocal abilities when asked if he considers himself a strong singer.

“I mean, I can sing ‘Sweet Caroline,’” he said, before laughing about the song’s challenges.

Damon appeared on the show while promoting his upcoming film The Odyssey, where he stars as Odysseus.

The Christopher Nolan-directed project is based on Homer’s ancient Greek poem and follows the legendary hero’s journey home after the Trojan War.

The film features a major ensemble cast, including Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, and Robert Pattinson.

During the interview, Damon also reflected on his commitment to charity work through Water.org, a nonprofit focused on expanding access to safe water and sanitation.

He joked that he would do almost anything to raise awareness for the cause, including previously participating in a campaign where he poured water over himself to highlight the global water crisis.

Damon also recently showed off his comedic side by performing a rap appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon under his alter ego “The Nomad,” a nickname based on his surname spelled backward.

Reflecting on the short-lived rap moment, Damon joked that his career ended almost immediately.

The actor ended his conversation with a more serious message, saying he believes society should focus more on kindness and recognizing that people are more connected than divided.

The Odyssey is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 17.
