'Only Murders in the Building' heads to London with major 'Doctor Who' reunion in new season

Only Murders in the Building is set to expand its star-studded ensemble for its upcoming sixth season, with major British actors joining the cast as the series moves its setting to London.

Among the newly announced additions are former Doctor Who stars David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker, marking a notable reunion of two actors closely associated with the iconic sci-fi franchise.

The Hulu and Disney+ series, which follows true crime podcasting trio Charles-Haden Savage, Oliver Putnam and Mabel Mora—played by Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez—will shift its story from New York’s Arconia building to a London-based setting for the new season.

The expansion introduces a wide range of British talent, including Nicola Coughlan, Richard Ayoade, Jim Broadbent, Kathryn Hunter, and several other established names.

Additional cast members previously announced include Geri Halliwell-Horner alongside actors such as Martin Freeman, Jennifer Saunders, Sharon Horgan, and many more, making season 6 one of the show’s most expansive ensembles to date.

Production for the new season is currently underway in the United Kingdom, marking the first time the series has filmed outside the United States, a significant shift for the long-running mystery comedy.

In earlier comments, Gomez praised the collaborative atmosphere on set, highlighting her enjoyment of working with Martin and Short and crediting the show’s writing team for its success.

She also noted that she is often kept in suspense about the series’ central mysteries until filming begins, preserving the show’s signature surprises.

Only Murders in the Buildingseason 6 is expected to arrive on Disney+ later this year.
