Savannah Chrisley reveals dad Todd disapproves of relationship age gap

Savannah Chrisley shared new details about her relationship, revealing that her father, Todd Chrisley, is not completely on board with the significant age difference between her and her boyfriend.

Speaking on the June 15 episode of Jana Kramer’s Whine Down podcast, the reality television personality said her father has reservations about the couple's age gap but has nevertheless developed a strong bond with her partner.

“Todd is not too fond” of the age difference, Chrisley said, adding that her father “loves him.”

While the 28-year-old did not disclose her boyfriend’s exact age, she indicated that he is considerably older than her, though still younger than her 57-year-old father.

Chrisley Calls It Her Healthiest Relationship

Despite concerns about the age gap, Chrisley said the relationship has been the most positive and secure experience of her life.

“Honestly, it’s the healthiest relationship I’ve ever been in,” she said during the podcast interview.

The former Chrisley Knows Best star argued that age-gap relationships can work well because they often come with greater emotional maturity and confidence.

“Age gap relationships are the new thing. You’re going to see it everywhere,” she said. “There are all these couples that are huge age gap relationships, but it just works.”

Chrisley added that she no longer deals with insecurities she experienced in previous relationships, describing her partner as supportive and secure in himself.

‘He’s My Biggest Cheerleader’

Elsewhere in the conversation, Chrisley praised her boyfriend, calling him “the calmest, sweetest human being in the entire world.”

She said he encourages her ambitions rather than feeling threatened by her success.

“He’s my biggest cheerleader,” Chrisley explained. “He’s not intimidated by my success, which is so great.”

The television personality also noted that her partner, who works in finance, is professionally successful in his own right, something she believes contributes to the healthy dynamic between them.

“He does way better than I do,” she said. “You’re not intimidated by me. You think what I do is great. You don’t try to stifle me.”

Feeling Safe for the First Time

Chrisley said one of the biggest differences in the relationship is the sense of emotional security she now feels.

After her boyfriend relocated to Nashville, where she lives, she noticed herself feeling unusually exhausted and later discussed it with her therapist.

“I’m like, ‘Why am I so exhausted?’” Chrisley recalled. According to her therapist, the fatigue stemmed from finally feeling safe and no longer operating in a constant state of stress.

“For the first time in your life you actually feel safe, so your nervous system is just like crashing,” she said her therapist told her.

Chrisley said the explanation resonated with her and helped her understand the changes she was experiencing.

Couple Met Through Political Circles

Chrisley revealed that she met her boyfriend through political connections in Washington, D.C., and said the pair have been together for about a year.

She also hinted that she believes he could be her future husband.

The relationship was first publicly acknowledged in May when Chrisley revealed on her Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley podcast that she was dating someone she described as “the epitome of a perfect partner.”

At the time, she said she felt “extremely happy and extremely fulfilled” and described her boyfriend as a kind, supportive and intelligent man.

Keeping the Relationship Private

Although she has spoken positively about the romance, Chrisley has made it clear that she intends to keep much of the relationship out of the public eye.

She previously said she may not reveal her boyfriend’s identity until after they are married.

Earlier this year, she hinted at the relationship by posting a photograph on Instagram showing herself holding a man’s hand without revealing his face.

Alongside the image, Chrisley reflected on finding a partner who makes her feel protected and supported, writing that a good man “honours” a strong woman and gives her “the safety to be soft.”
