Todd Chrisley praises Savannah’s financial sacrifices during family crisis
The reality TV star praises Savannah’s dedication
Todd Chrisley has opened up about the sacrifices his daughter, Savannah Chrisley, made while he and wife Julie Chrisley were serving prison sentences, revealing that she financially supported the family without relying on her parents’ money.
Speaking on the June 16 episode of the Hang Out with Sean Hannity podcast, Todd and Julie reflected on the challenges their family faced during their incarceration and praised Savannah for stepping up to care for their loved ones.
Savannah Covered Family Expenses Herself
During the interview, Julie described Savannah as a “rock star” for taking responsibility for the family while both parents were behind bars.
According to Julie, Savannah ensured that her younger brother Grayson Chrisley and niece Chloe Chrisley maintained stability in their daily lives, including school, sports activities and therapy appointments.
“She didn't have their mom and dad there every day, but they continued in their school,” Julie said. “They continued in their sports, in their therapy.”
Todd then revealed that although Savannah had power of attorney and full access to the family's finances, she chose not to use their money to support the household.
“She never used one dollar of our money to take care of her siblings,” Todd said. “We didn't realize that until it was all turned back over to us that she had never done anything like that. She had taken care of it herself.”
Daughter ‘Kindest’ Person He Knows
Todd spoke emotionally about his daughter's character, describing her as someone whose inner qualities surpass even the public praise she receives for her appearance.
“She’s far prettier on the inside than she is on the outside,” he said, calling Savannah “the kindest, most decent, honorable human being in the world.”
The comments come more than a year after Todd and Julie were released from prison following presidential pardons.
Savannah Chrisley Campaigned for Parents’ Release
Todd and Julie, stars of the reality series Chrisley Knows Best, were convicted in 2022 on federal charges including bank fraud and tax-related offences. Julie was also convicted of wire fraud.
The couple began serving their prison sentences in January 2023. Todd received a 12-year sentence, while Julie was sentenced to seven years.
However, their incarceration ended after Donald Trump granted them full pardons in May 2025.
Throughout the appeals process, Savannah became one of her parents' most vocal advocates. She frequently spoke publicly about their case, appeared at political events and became involved in prison reform efforts.
Todd credited much of their eventual release to Savannah’s persistence.
“Savannah, our daughter, had literally worked so hard to make sure that she was in every room that she could be in to make sure she put it out there to find out who she needed to go to for help,” he said.
Life After Prison
While discussing life after their release, Todd acknowledged that the experience left lasting emotional scars on the family.
“I don't think you can come out of this and say you're not damaged,” he said. “I think that I'm damaged.”
Despite the challenges, Todd expressed gratitude that the family remained united through the ordeal.
“It was a horrible time of our life, but we survived it,” he added. “Look at all the families that don't survive it.”
