Bunnie Xo shuts down Chad Kroeger dating claims while opening up on life after Jelly Roll separation
The media personality opens up about her divorce while shutting down claims about a new romance
Bunnie Xo has dismissed rumours linking her to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger while also reflecting on her separation from Jelly Roll, saying that “marriages take a lot of work.”
The podcast host, whose real name is Alisa DeFord, addressed the speculation on the latest episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast, denying claims that she is in a new relationship following the couple’s split.
Rumours began circulating after Bunnie shared a TikTok video lip-syncing to Nickelback’s hit “How You Remind Me,” alongside an Instagram clip that showed her hugging the band’s lead singer.
Responding directly to the speculation, she said, “I am not dating Chad Kroeger. I am so sorry to Chad and Nickelback for this happening. It’s embarrassing. It’s crazy.”
She added that she has “so much respect” for Kroeger and emphasised that there is no romantic connection between them.
“There’s no Chad and Bunnie Xo,” she said. “Your girl is not going to ever be in another relationship.”
The comments come a month after country star Jelly Roll filed for divorce in Williamson County, Tennessee, citing irreconcilable differences after nearly a decade of marriage.
During the podcast, Bunnie also addressed the wider public reaction to their split, saying she is choosing not to assign blame.
“I’m not going to say anything about Jay’s actions because I don’t feel like it’s the right time and I don’t feel like it’s my place,” she said. “Marriages take a lot of work.”
She added that she has respect for anyone who remains married for decades, calling long-term relationships “an inspiration.”
Despite the separation, Bunnie said she still supports Jelly Roll and their family life, which includes his children Bailee and Noah.
“Your girl is still riding for that man,” she said, adding that he remains her “best friend.”
She also confirmed that Jelly Roll has begun dating again and said she is “happy for him,” while criticising unrelated rumours linking him to singer-songwriter Jessie Murph.
“That is absolutely f---ing kind of disgusting, guys,” she said, calling the speculation inappropriate due to their age difference.
Reflecting on her own relationship history, Bunnie said she accepts that marriage has been challenging for her personally.
She noted that her relationship with Jelly Roll was her third marriage and described their bond as transformative, saying they had built a life and “empire” together while supporting each other through difficult times.
Bunnie added that, despite the divorce, she remains grateful for the role he played in her life and personal growth.
