Paulina Porizkova pushes back at online critics with honest message on body image
The model reflected on how her relationship with her body has evolved over the years
Paulina Porizkova has responded to critics commenting on her weight, saying she is more comfortable in her body than ever and is choosing to focus her time and energy on other priorities.
The 61-year-old supermodel addressed the discussion in a candid Instagram post shared on June 18, following earlier reflections on body acceptance.
In the post, she pushed back against suggestions that she could easily lose weight through diet or exercise.
“I got a lot of love and support from you all — and a few peeps who helpfully wanted to let me know that if I ate and exercised the right way, I COULD get rid of the weight,” she wrote, also referencing unsolicited offers for weight-loss programs.
She acknowledged that physical change is possible but said that is not her focus.
“I know I can get rid of the weight. I can eat less and work out more. I can get liposuction, or freeze my extra fat off in little bricks,” she added.
“My point was and IS: to resist aging takes an awful lot of time and money.”
Porizkova said that at this stage in her life, she is prioritising peace of mind and personal fulfilment over appearance.
“At this point in my life I’m more comfortable in this body than I’ve ever been,” she wrote. “More grateful for it. And I have a ton of other things I want to do with my time and money.”
The model also shared a video message alongside her post, reflecting on how her approach to her body has changed over the years.
She contrasted her younger self, when she said she “took her body for granted,” with her current lifestyle, which includes consistent training and a more mindful approach to health and fitness.
“This woman just finished a hard workout,” she said, referring to her present self in the video.
She added that she now works out regularly, eats more intentionally, and appreciates what her body has carried her through.
Porizkova also reflected on the pressures she faced earlier in her modelling career, saying she often felt “slightly ashamed” of her appearance despite external success.
The post follows a series of recent comments from the model about self-acceptance and aging, including reflections shared ahead of her 61st birthday in April, where she spoke about embracing her body after decades in the fashion industry.
