Jane Seymour reveals why she refuses to hide her age in Hollywood
The 'Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman' star is celebrating a successful new chapter filled with acting, art and romance
Jane Seymour is embracing the natural process of aging and says she has no desire to hide the passage of time.
The Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress, 75, opened up about growing older while celebrating one of the busiest periods of her career, including the success of her television series, a new art exhibition and her recent engagement.
Speaking at the 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala, the Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman star explained that she has chosen to avoid cosmetic procedures because her work depends on authentic emotion and expression.
“This is what happens. I’m not trying to be 30 when I’m 75,” Jane told Page Six, adding, “Maybe 60 would be nice.”
The actress explained that her approach to acting is centered around portraying real emotions rather than maintaining a certain appearance.
“I’ve been playing a lot of older women,” Seymour said. “The kind of acting that I do is not about glamour, it’s more about serious emotion, and for real authentic emotion, you need every muscle to work.”
Jane has enjoyed a career spanning more than five decades, becoming a household name through Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman before continuing to appear in film and television projects.
She has recently found renewed success with Harry Wild, where she plays a retired literature professor who becomes an amateur detective.
Reflecting on her current achievements, Jane shared her excitement about continuing to work at an age when many actors struggle to find opportunities.
“I’m on a show that I love, Harry Wild, my fifth season,” she said. “Who has a series when they’re 75? Nobody.”
Beyond acting, Seymour has also expanded her creativity into the world of art. Earlier this month, she unveiled a collection of watercolor paintings during the Vibrant Visions and Healing Hearts exhibition at Ocean Galleries in Stone Harbor, New Jersey.
The exhibition represents another side of Jane’s creative journey, which now includes painting and philanthropy alongside her longtime acting career.
The actress is also celebrating a new personal milestone after confirming her engagement to singer-songwriter John Zambetti after three years together.
“Someone decided they wanted to be with me for the rest of their lives. My singer-songwriter,” Jane told Us Weekly.
She also shared that their relationship has inspired a new creative connection, saying she has become his muse while continuing to write music together.
The engagement will mark Jane’s fifth marriage. She was previously married to Michael Attenborough, Geoffrey Planer, David Flynn and James Keach.
Jane first went public with her relationship with John in 2023, sharing moments from their life together on social media.
Now at 75, Seymour continues to prove that embracing change, creativity and new beginnings can define any stage of life.
