Mel C reportedly preparing to tie the knot with Chris Dingwall
The Spice Girls star is reportedly set for a secret wedding as the group celebrates 30 years since 'Wannabe'
Mel C is reportedly preparing to tie the knot with her partner, Chris Dingwall, in a private ceremony, nearly 30 years after the Spice Girls shot to global fame with their debut hit Wannabe.
According to multiple reports, the singer, whose full name is Melanie Chisholm, is set to marry Dingwall this weekend.
However, neither the couple has publicly confirmed an engagement or announced wedding plans.
The 52-year-old Spice Girls star has been dating Australian model, actor and screenwriter Chris Dingwall for around two years after the pair reportedly met through the celebrity dating app Raya.
The Daily Mail reported that the intimate ceremony is expected to reunite most of the Spice Girls as the group continues celebrating the 30th anniversary of Wannabe, the chart-topping single that launched one of Britain's biggest pop acts.
However, Victoria Beckham is reportedly expected to miss the wedding as she is in the United States with husband David Beckham for the FIFA Club World Cup final.
A source quoted by the publication claimed there is speculation Mel C could eventually relocate to Australia with Dingwall.
The insider also noted that her daughter, Scarlett, is expected to start university later this year, while the singer continues her role on The Voice Australia.
The reported wedding marks a significant shift for Mel C, who has previously spoken openly about never imagining marriage would be part of her future.
Influenced by her parents' separation during her childhood, she often said she did not believe marriage was necessary despite having several long-term relationships.
In a 2022 interview with The Sunday Times, she said, "I've never, never wanted to marry.
Maybe marriage works for some people, but maybe to think it works for the majority is an old-fashioned notion."
Earlier this year, however, the singer admitted that her relationship with Dingwall had changed her perspective.
"You know what? (Marriage is) something I didn't think would be part of my story. But I'm so happy with Chris," she said.
"Maybe it is something that will be in my life. I just think, just do all the things. Have all the experiences."
The couple went public with their relationship in 2024, and Mel C later revealed they first connected on Raya.
Speaking to The Telegraph in May, she described Dingwall as "very laid-back" and said they share similar personalities and lifestyles.
The reported wedding comes during a milestone year for the Spice Girls, with Mel C, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell-Horner and Mel B recently celebrating the 30th anniversary of Wannabe on social media, sparking fresh speculation about a future reunion.
