Savannah Guthrie leaves NYC after 'Today' show intruder incident

Savannah Guthrie reportedly left New York City a day after an intruder allegedly confronted her Today co-anchor Craig Melvin at NBC's studios, with reports claiming the incident left the veteran broadcaster deeply shaken.

The 54-year-old was photographed with her husband, Michael Feldman, at LaGuardia Airport on Friday, a day after the alleged security breach.

Report says incident was 'triggering'

According to the Daily Mail, Guthrie found the workplace security incident "incredibly triggering," despite having left the building shortly before it unfolded.

A source told the outlet the timing was particularly difficult given the ongoing disappearance of Guthrie's mother, Nancy, who has been missing since February.

The source added that the incident "hit differently" for Guthrie following the emotional challenges she has faced this year.

Intruder allegedly targeted NBC studio

Authorities said the suspect, identified as Andrew Truelove, entered the Today show offices on Thursday while looking for Al Roker.

Instead, he allegedly encountered Craig Melvin and used a racial slur during the confrontation.

The suspect is now facing multiple hate crime charges, while Melvin and Roker have reportedly obtained protective orders.

Guthrie was already preparing for a break

Before the incident, Guthrie had announced plans to step away from Today for several weeks to film NBC's upcoming Wordle game show.

According to the report, colleagues are relieved she will have time away from the newsroom following the security scare.

Sources also claimed security at the Today studios has been strengthened and that Guthrie's personal protection has been increased, although NBC has not publicly confirmed those measures.

A representative for Guthrie did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
