Mother speaks out after teen found dead in Boston rental property

Mother of an 18-year-old woman found dead inside a Boston rental property has alleged her daughter was a victim of domestic violence as police continue investigating the fatal shooting.

Authorities have identified no suspects or announced any arrests following the death of Yoseliani Marte, whose body was discovered on July 18 in a Mattapan home owned by the husband of Rep. Ayanna Pressley.

Mother alleges daughter was killed

Marte's mother, Elenie Ocasio, publicly identified her daughter and claimed she knew who was responsible for the teenager's death.

Speaking to local media, Ocasio alleged her daughter was the victim of domestic violence and insisted she did not believe the 18-year-old had taken her own life.

"My daughter didn't deserve this," she said, adding that she is determined to seek justice.

Investigation remains ongoing

Boston police said officers initially responded to investigate a person before reclassifying the incident as a death investigation.

According to local reports, an autopsy found Marte died from a single gunshot wound. The manner of death remains undetermined pending further forensic testing.

Police have not identified any suspects or released details about what led to the shooting.

Property linked to congresswoman's husband

The property where Marte was found is owned by Conan Harris, the husband of Massachusetts Rep. Ayanna Pressley, according to public records.

A spokesperson for Pressley said the residence is a rental property, the congresswoman is not the landlord and extended condolences to Marte's family.

Friends and loved ones have since created a memorial outside the home, while the investigation into the teenager's death continues.
