Pop star Taylor Swift and American football player Travis Kelce received heartfelt notes from the families of first responders killed in the line of duty after donating $2 million to Answer the Call NYC ahead of their wedding. The New York-based charity provides financial assistance to the surviving families of police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical services personnel.

Page Six reported that the organisation shared several messages online written to the newlyweds following the contribution. Patricia Polimeni, whose husband NYPD Detective Jack Polimeni died in 2020, expressed that the donation offered hope, comfort, and a sense of community to grieving families. Amanda Rivera, daughter of fallen NYPD Officer William Rivera who died in 2004, stated that the organisation helped her family connect with others facing similar loss while offering valuable life opportunities.

Allison Garger, who lost her husband Thomas J. Kennedy in the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks, also expressed her gratitude to the couple. Executive Director Lauren Profeta thanked the pair for their generosity, stating that the extraordinary gift will ensure the charity continues providing vital financial aid to families of fallen New York City emergency workers.

The charity gift formed part of an estimated $26 million in total donations that Swift and Kelce made to various charities across the United States before their marriage. Their contributions targeted multiple New York organisations, including Education Through Music, Musical Mentors Collaborative, City Harvest Food Rescue Centre, Food Bank for NYC, and New York Cares.

The couple, both aged 35, tied the knot in front of family and friends at Madison Square Garden on 3 July. Swift, who attained billionaire status in 2024, spent approximately $3 million to hire the New York venue for three days to host the nuptials.
