Samuel L. Jackson uncovers theft of watermarked Avengers script at Marvel studios

Hollywood actor Samuel L. Jackson, known for his role as Nick Fury in the MCU, disclosed that his original watermarked script for The Avengers was stolen from Marvel Studios' production offices.

During the promotional campaign for Marvel's Secret Invasion, the Death to 2020 actor shed light on the incident and how it prompted Marvel to enhance its security protocols.

The stolen screenplay, which had the Class actor's watermark, unexpectedly surfaced online for sale, prompting Marvel to take immediate action.

The company orchestrated a clever ruse by setting up a fake buy to apprehend the culprit responsible.

While filming in Canada, the Shaft star recalled how Marvel's team traveled to the location to address the issue.

He stated, "There are worse examples than that. I remember when we got ready to do ‘Avengers,’ someone printed out a copy of my ‘Avengers’ script that had my watermark on it, and put it online for sale."

The Banker actor further added, "I was shooting in Canada and Marvel came to Canada. It had been printed in the production office… They found out who it was, dude quit, left the country. They set up a fake buy for the script, dude didn’t show up. It was crazy."

The Secret Invasion series, in which Samuel L. Jackson reprises his role as Nick Fury, is currently available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

Alongside Jackson, the show features renowned actors such as Ben Mendelsohn, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, and Don Cheadle.

The interview also included Emilia Clarke, who expressed admiration for Marvel's advanced spoiler protection measures.

Clarke, making her debut in the MCU with Secret Invasion, praised the studio's exemplary security practices, mentioning that even the team behind Game of Thrones took inspiration from them.
