5 shocking times when Taylor Swift lashed out at sexist remarks
5 crucial times when Taylor Swift stood for herself

Taylor Swift, one of the most iconic pop sensations in the current entertainment world, has often been hit with sexist and deeply rooted misogynistic comments.
The journey for the 35-year-old musician to prove herself as a talented female artist has been anything but easy.
She officially embarked on her musical journey at the age of 10, and along the way, she has dealt with constant, destructive criticism. But Swift has always found ways to respond to haters with sharp comebacks.
Have a look at when the Blank Space htimaker shut down sexist interviewers:
When asked about “settling down” with kids and starting a family
This dates back to when a German radio show host asked Swift whether she planned to settle down and start a family with her then-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn.
The Cardigan songstress instantly called out the interviewer and replied, “I really do not think men are asked that question when they turn 30, so I’m not going to answer that now.”
When asked about writing most of her songs about former love interests
In 2014, while promoting her highly acclaimed 1989 album, Swift addressed constant jabs claiming all her music was about her exes.
“You’re going to have people who are going to say, ‘Oh, you know, like, she just writes songs about her ex-boyfriends’. And I think frankly that’s a very sexist angle to take. No one says that about Ed Sheeran. No one says that about Bruno Mars. They’re all writing songs about their exes, their current girlfriends, their love life, and no one raises the red flag there,” she said, taking a brutal swipe at the haters.
When asked if her songs were “boy-bashing”
In a 2015 interview with The Telegraph, Swift responded to the claims that called her songs “boy-bashing.”
“There was a bit of a reputation for having a lot of boy-bashing songs,” she said, adding, “Which is a sexist way of saying heartbreak songs.”
“To trivialise someone who’s heartbroken is really cruel. But people have to simplify things,” the King of My Heart singer noted.
When asked about turning 30
Swift has also shed light on the way society shames women for ageing and the pressure they are dealt with.
“I’ve learned that society is constantly sending very loud messages to women that exhibiting the physical signs of ageing is the worst thing that can happen to us,” she told ELLE in 2019.
The Clean singer added, “These messages tell women that we aren’t allowed to age. It’s an impossible standard to meet.”
When asked if she writes her songs by herself or not
In an interview with Time magazine in 2014, Swift revealed how annoyed she feels when people claim she doesn't write her own songs.
She expressed her frustration, stating, “And we all know it’s a feminist issue. My friend Ed [Sheeran], no one questions whether he writes everything. In the beginning, I liked to think that we were all on the same playing field.”
“It’s a little discouraging that females have to work so much harder to prove that they do their own things. I see Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea having to prove that they write their own raps or their own lyrics, and it makes me sad, because they shouldn’t have to justify it,” the Dress singer continued.
Conclusion
Taylor Swift has always shut down these sexist comments and has been an open advocate of women's rights. She has ensured, on multiple occasions, to create a safe space for young women in the field of music.
