Lana Del Rey finally addresses working at Waffle House, ‘I wish my album had gone as viral’

Lana Del Rey finally addressed her viral waitressing job at a Waffle House in Alabama that took the internet by storm this summer.

The Young and Beautiful singer, 38, opened up about her gig at the restaurant in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, published on September 20, 2023.

Lana revealed that she slipped into the restaurant chain’s uniform as she had spent a few hours with her two siblings at the eatery and the employees couldn’t help but notice.

“We were on our third hour, and the servers asked, ‘Do you guys want shirts?’ ” the Grammy nominee explained. “[expletive] yeah! We were thrilled.”

Lana Del Rey’s comments came two months after she was spotted standing behind the counter of a Waffle House in Florence, Alabama serving coffee.

The West Coast singer’s picture went viral, in which she was seen dressed in the brand’s signature uniform: a blue button-up shirt, black shorts, and a name tag.

Many fans speculated that Lana was filming a music video or possibly changing careers.

“This guy, a regular, comes in every day and orders two things, so they were like, ‘Just go get it for him!’ I brought him a Coke. No ice. And an empty cup,” Lana Del Rey said.

Lana, who is a global music sensation, admitted that she was surprised that the pictures of her at the restaurant went viral.

“I wish my album had gone as viral. I woke up to, like, 10,000 texts the next morning — some from folks I had not heard from for 10 years. ‘Saw your picture at the Waffle House!’ (Laughing.) I was like, ‘Did you hear the new album?'” she joked.

Lana Del Rey released her album, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, in March 2023. During her interview, she confirmed that her fans “get” her more now than they did in the earlier days of her career.

“Yeah. Maybe they weren’t supposed to back in the day, when I thought that they would. There might’ve been a reason for that,” she said.

Earlier this year, Lana collaborated with Taylor Swift as the two worked together on Snow on the Beach for Taylor’s 2022 album, Midnights.
