Alia Bhatt has been receiving criticism ever since she penned a lengthy note to support husband Ranbir Kapoor’s movie, Animal.

She praised the director for making an “unreal” film that leaves “goosebumps” for days.

However, the netizen did not like how the star supported the “movie about abuse” after working in films like “Raazi and Gangubai Kathiawadi.”

Taking to Instagram Stories on Saturday, Alia penned, “Sandeep Reddy Vanga there is NO ONE like you! The beats in this film are shocking, surprising, unreal and fully loaded .. goosebumps and iconic imagery for dayssssss @sandeepreddy.”

She appreciated the cast, “vanga @rashmika_mandanna you are so so so beautiful and honest in the film! As I told you in person.. I loved you in that scene - so special and inspiring. Fully joining the #crushmika club :) @iambobbydeol my most favourite - outstanding! You are just magic every time you are on screen.”

Alia concluded the post, “And the one and only @anilskapoor - smashing it as always! Such an inspiration. Congratulations to the entire cast - phenomenal performances that truly make the whole world come to life! @tripti_dimri @shaktikapoor. You'll have hit it out of the park and right into the animal park.”

The film is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga of Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh fame and is about a toxic connection between a parent and son.

After the Darlings actress shared the appreciation note, her fans started trolling her on social media.

A comment read on X, “If this women in future EVER talks about abuse in society, does movie on feminism or woke movie about abuse please remind her about Animal..... also do not forget she is friend with gal gadot....”

Another one added, “Win awards for 'feminist' roles then appreciate women in clearly downgrading roles. Their -isms are limited to just scripts and money,” a user wrote, “She worked in movies like Raazi and Gangubai Kathiawadi and then calling Rashmika’s role inspiring!!?”

The third one penned, “Genuine question - has Ranbir ever hyped any of Alia's movies? online or offline appearances whatever he does?”

“Rightly said, Alia. Truly Iconic Imagery by Vanga. I mn what can you expect from this Husband defending a Spineless wife,” a critique noted.
