BLACKPINK brought holiday joy with three exciting announcements
BLACKPINK members brought back their A-game this Christmas with a line-up of exciting projects and announcements for their fan-following.
As reported by Variety, this year’s winter holiday became merrier with three big announcements from the K-pop girl group that included Lisa dropping her cover of Britney Spears’ holiday melody, My Only Wish (This Year) on Christmas Eve.
The band also plans on celebrating the day after Christmas with a virtual-reality concert, Blackpink: A VR Encore, expected on December 26, 2023.
The third big announcement from BLACKPINK also came on Christmas Eve when one of their group members, Jennie, announced that she would be launching her own label and company, OA.
About BLACKPINK Lisa’s cover 'My Only Wish':
Lisa is known as BLACKPINK’s prime rapper but her cover of Britney Spears’ perennial holiday song displayed her vocal talents in singing, setting apart from her usual rapping persona.
The 26-year-old Thai singer took to her Instagram account to announce the launch of her cover song with the caption, “Christmas present for my Blinks… Have a wonderful holiday.”

She dropped the song on her YouTube channel shortly after her post, a music video which contained aesthetic holiday-themed and romantic cinematic shots in Paris.
The rendition of Spears song My Only Wish (This Year) marks the Thai singer’s first solo work since her 2021 album Lalisa and a non-LP single, SG with DJ Snake, Ozuna and Megan Thee Stallion, released the same year.
Earlier in 2023, Lisa was a featured as a guest on Shoong! from South Korean singer-songwriter and dancer Taeyang.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK’s Jennie is expected to kick off New Years with a new product company launch and not fresh music.
The exciting news was announced by the South Korean singer on her upcoming brand's Instagram account, where she penned a caption that read, “OA, which stands for Odd Atelier, is a space that aims to create new things that attract attention in a different way from what is usual or expected.”
On the work front, Jennie appeared on the Weeknd’s HBO series, The Idol, and then released her new song in October, You & Me.
However, around the holiday season, she seems to be more focused on a product line of her own.
