Michael Jackson's highly anticipated and bombshell biopic set to hit screens in 2025, the upcoming film promises to delve into the extraordinary journey of the legendary artist, capturing the highs, lows, and unparalleled musical legacy that defined his career.

Lionsgate revealed that the forthcoming biopic Michael is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 18, 2025.

Lionsgate will handle the movie's domestic release, while Universal is set to manage its international release. Production for the film is slated to commence on January 22, according to reports from Variety.

The synopsis of the movie said, “Michael will bring audiences a riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man who became the King of Pop.”

As per the synopsis, “The film presents his triumphs and tragedies on an epic, cinematic scale — from his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable creative genius, exemplified by his most iconic performances. As never before, audiences will experience an inside look into one of the most influential, trailblazing artists the world has ever known.”

Antoine Fuqua has taken the helm as the director for the forthcoming project, where Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of Michael Jackson and son of Jermaine Jackson, is set to portray the Beat It singer.

The script for the biopic has been penned by John Logan, known for his work on the film Gladiator.

"It's uncanny how much [Jaafar is] like Michael," Fuqua told Entertainment Weekly.

He added, "Sounds like him, dances like him, sings. It's really uncanny. Graham King, who is a fantastic producer, found him, and introduced him to me, and I was blown away."

The upcoming biographical film is planned to encompass every facet of the singer's life. It remains uncertain if the movie will delve into the controversies surrounding Jackson.

Towards the end of his life and posthumously, Jackson faced accusations of child sexual abuse, with legal incidents occurring in 2003.

Despite his arrest, he was acquitted of the charges in 2005.

Posthumously, in 2013, two individuals accused Jackson of sexual abuse, a topic revisited in the 2019 HBO documentary Leaving Neverland.
