Anne Hathaway has addressed online speculation surrounding The Devil Wears Prada 2, after behind-the-scenes comments sparked debate about alleged casting changes and body diversity on set.

The Oscar-winning actress clarified that no one was fired from the production, pushing back against viral claims suggesting that models were removed following her input.

Speaking on Good Morning America, Hathaway said the situation had been misrepresented online.

“Nobody lost their jobs, in fact, it created more jobs,” she said, explaining that the discussion began during filming when she noticed the lack of size diversity among runway models in a key scene.

Hathaway said she suggested broadening the range of body types featured, arguing that it would make the scene more engaging and reflective of real-world audiences.

“I thought the scene would be so much more enjoyable for the audience if we had just a wider range of bodies on display,” she said. “Because all different shapes are beautiful.”

According to the actress, producers quickly agreed to the idea and implemented the changes within a short period of time.

She added that the adjustment ultimately expanded opportunities rather than replacing existing cast members.

The discussion gained traction after remarks from Meryl Streep were interpreted online as suggesting significant casting disruptions, fuelling social media debate about representation in fashion-focused films.

Hathaway also briefly teased a new original song reportedly written by Lady Gaga for the sequel, adding further anticipation around the project.

While speculation continues online, Hathaway emphasised that the intention behind the creative decision was inclusivity rather than controversy, and said she was proud of the final result.
