Margot Robbie has decided to hit the pause button on her acting career.

Following a tremendous triumph with her role in the hit Barbie movie, the acclaimed actress declared her intention to step back temporarily, humorously suggesting that "everyone's probably sick of the sight of me."

Robbie took centre stage on the Awards Line edition of Deadline, candidly sharing her aspirations to explore opportunities behind the scenes after dedicating years to enhancing her acting repertoire.

In an interview with the publication, the 33-year-old star expressed her desire to step away from the spotlight, citing a need for a break from movie roles, playfully suggesting that her recent blockbuster, directed by Greta Gerwig, might have left audiences feeling a bit weary of seeing her on screen.

The Suicide Squad starlet shared, “I also think everyone's probably sick of the sight of me for now. I should probably disappear from screens for a while.”

She added, “Honestly, if I did another movie too soon, people would say, ‘Her again? We just did a whole summer with her. We're over it.’”

Robbie went on to say, “I don't know what I'll do next, but I hope it's a little while away.”

The Babylon actress mentioned that she has been actively engaged in behind-the-scenes work, taking on producing roles.

In another part of the conversation, Margot Robbie openly shared her aspirations to step into the director's chair, expressing a desire to helm her own film after contributing to the creation of well-received projects for several years.

She said, “I really do want to direct,” adding, “I've felt like I wanted to direct for about the last seven years. But I've always seen it as a privilege, not a right.”

While expressing her right to direct, Robbie continued, “I've been slowly working towards the feeling that I've earned the right to direct,” adding, “and I feel I'm getting close to that feeling now.”

She also reflected, “It's hard, too, because I've been so fortunate to work with so many amazing directors, and to learn from them. Often, when something comes to me, it's like: 'Wouldn't it be great to act in that so I can watch them direct?'”
