Paul Giamatti paid tribute to his family during the acceptance speech at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards, where he won the honour for his role in The Holdovers, released on October 27, 2023.

As reported by PEOPLE magazine, Giamatti, in his acceptance speech, playfully acknowledged his recent funny In-N-Out moment after the 2024 Golden Globes.

The Sideways actor said, "Wow, guys. I didn't think my week could get any better than going viral for eating a cheeseburger."

Giamatti added, "Seriously guys, I need that endorsement, so let's all just pray for me."

In addition to thanking his cast, crew, and the studio, the Billions star expressed gratitude to his son Samuel, girlfriend Clara Wong, and his late father Bart Giamatti, who never got to see him act professionally.

Giamatti, who portrayed a cross-eyed boarding school professor in 1970 in The Holdovers, said, "He was a literary critic, and so you couldn't get away with anything but good work with him."

"This would make him really happy, and that makes me really happy. So thank you," he added.

The 56-year-old triumphed over Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio, Colman Domingo, Cillian Murphy, and Jeffrey Wright for the coveted award.

This achievement marked Giamatti's sixth overall nomination, including previous wins for Sideways and Cinderella Man in 2006.

Prior to this, the Big Fat Liar actor also secured a Golden Globe award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy film for The Holdovers, just like his film's co-star Da’Vine Joy Randolph, who won the award for Best Supporting Actress for the same film.
