Microsoft’s AI chatbot Copilot gets major upgrade

Microsoft has upgraded its artificial intelligence (AI)- powered chatbot Microsoft Copilot with new features to commemorate its 50th birthday.

The AI chatbot can now take action on most websites, enabling it to perform tasks such as booking tickets and reserving restaurants.

Microsoft Copilot’s upgraded version can also remember specific details about users, similar to rival OpenAI's ChatGPT, including preferences such as favourite food, hobbies, and films.

Additionally, the chatbot can analyse real-time video from a user's phone, providing context-based answers.

These upgrades come as Microsoft considers revamping Copilot with more in-house technology, potentially reducing its reliance on OpenAI's models.

The chatbot has faced competition from competitors such as ChatGPT and Google's Gemini, which have recently accelerated feature rollouts.

Microsoft has partnered with various companies to ensure day-one compatibility. Moreover, users can input prompts, such as sending a bouquet to a partner, and Copilot will attempt to complete the task.

Similarly, the AI chatbot can also track online deals and notify users of price drops and sales. Furthermore, it can generate podcasts, creating a dialogue between two synthetic hosts based on a given source.

The upgraded Copilot is available on Android and iOS, with the ability to analyse content within view of the phone's camera or in the photo gallery, providing answers to user queries.
