Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, who is professionally known as the Weeknd, will make his feature film debut this summer in Hurry Up Tomorrow, alongside Barry Keoghan and Jenna Ortega, an exciting new psychological thriller offering from Waves director Trey Edward Shults.

According to new reports, Lionsgate has acquired the rights to distribute the film in several key locations of the US and the UK.

Other distribution partners for the upcoming movie include Village Roadshow for Australia and New Zealand as well as Metropolitan for France, among others.

The film is set to be released in more than 65 international markets and will star the Blinding Lights hitmaker as a fictional version of himself, a project on which he also served as a songwriter and producer.

Additionally, Shults and Ortega contributed to the film’s production duties as well.

Release of the movie will also coincide with the Weeknd’s album launch for Hurry Up Tomorrow, named accordingly with the release of the movie, and subsequent tour which will be the final entry in the artistic trilogy of his previous musical titles After Hours and Dawn FM.

Moreover, the 35-year-old performer stopped by CinemaCon earlier this month to promote the future release.

Hurry Up Tomorrow starring the Weeknd will arrive in theatres on May 16, 2025.
