Misua, a rising star set to appear on the upcoming season of Drag Race: Philippines, has died at the age of 27.

The performer, whose real name was Jason Elvie Ty, passed away in her sleep on April 2, according to a joint statement shared by the show and its production team, World of Wonder.

“We are heartbroken to share that Misua… passed away in her sleep the morning of April 2,” the statement read.

“She brought light, artistry, and joy to those around her, and she will be deeply missed.”

Production on the fourth season has been paused as cast and crew process the loss.

The team added that they are in contact with Misua’s family, who have requested privacy during this difficult time. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Tributes quickly poured in from across the drag community.

Hannah Conda, known for appearing on RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, described the news as “absolutely heartbreaking,” while Blue Hydrangea, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. the World, shared messages of love and support.

In a statement shared through media reports, Misua’s family remembered her as a beloved son, brother, and mentor, calling her “a star” who would be deeply missed by loved ones.

Hailing from Cagayan de Oro, Misua built a reputation for her creativity and hands-on artistry.

A graphic designer by profession and performer for eight years, she was known for crafting nearly every element of her drag—from costumes and hair to props and visual design—reflecting a distinct and personal style.

Her drag name, she once shared, was inspired by a comforting family dish, symbolizing both identity and heritage.

Misua’s death comes as anticipation had been building for the next season of Drag Race: Philippines, which was expected to premiere later this year.

Her passing has left a profound void in the community, with fans and fellow performers mourning the loss of a vibrant and promising talent.
