King Charles experienced the arrival of his first granddaughter, Princess Charlotte, in May 2015.

Born to the King’s eldest, Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, the Princess who recently celebrated her 10th birthday, reportedly shares an exceptional relationship with her grandfather.

Now, royal author Ingrid Seward has revealed why that is.

“He once wanted a daughter. I would think he has a very nice relationship with his granddaughter,” she told PEOPLE.

Indeed, the King’s desire to father a daughter was confirmed by his first wife, the late Princess Diana, when she once discussed their youngest son, Prince Harry’s birth.

“I knew Harry was going to be a boy because I saw on the scan. Charles always wanted a girl. He wanted two children, and he wanted a girl,” she told Andrew Morton, author of Diana: Her True Story.

Meanwhile, the young princess and King’s granddaughter has been immensely praised over the years for her role as a public figure, even at her delicate age.

PEOPLE also reported a Palace source as saying, “She’s a natural and has taken to royal events like a duck to water.”

Additionally, the reports of her special relationship with the 76-year-old King were further cemented when he was once spotted wearing a friendship bracelet that his granddaughter has been known to be in the habit of making.

Notably, her father, the Prince of Wales was also spotted wearing one on a separate occasion.

King Charles and the royal family, including Princess Charlotte, were last spotted together at VE Day celebrations on Monday, May 5, as they observed a military parade and flypast at Buckingham Palace.
