WhatsApp introduces new feature to forward messages directly to Meta AI

In a significant development, WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that simplifies how users interact with Meta AI, the company’s built-in artificial intelligence (AI) assistant.

First spotted by WABetaInfo, the update is currently available to select users through the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.25.18.8 on the Google Play Store.

This new functionality allows WhatsApp users to forward messages and media, such as text, images, or videos, directly to Meta AI, removing the need to copy and paste content manually.

If the option “Meta AI” appears on your message forwarding screen, you’re among those granted early access.

The feature is designed to enhance convenience for users who want to analyse or ask questions about shared content within their chats.

For instance, users can forward a photo and ask, “Is this image real?” or “What do you see here?”

The update also includes the ability to attach a personal note to forwarded content, helping Meta AI provide more relevant and personalised responses.

To note, Meta AI only accesses content that users intentionally share.

However, forwarding is entirely optional, and Meta notes that shared content may be used to improve its AI systems.

While currently in beta, the feature is reportedly beginning to appear in the stable version of WhatsApp as well, suggesting a broader rollout is already underway.
