Elle Fanning and her real-life sister Dakota Fanning will star as sisters in the upcoming movie The Nightingale, set to hit theaters on February 12, 2027.

The movie is based on Kristin Hannah’s one of the best-selling novels, which follows two sisters in France during the great World War II as they face the difficulties of the German occupation.

Directed by Michael Morris, this marks the first time the Fanning sisters will act together on screen.

The movie’s Instagram shared a photo of the book and script, announcing the release date.

"Can we buy tickets now? For the first time ever, sisters Dakota and Elle Fanning are set to star in a film together, in the adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s global book phenomenon The Nightingale. Directed by Michael Morris, #TheNightingaleMovie is coming exclusively to theatres February 12, 2027." They captioned the post.

“For years, we’ve searched for a project to do together, and then this gem appeared,” the sisters said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

They called it a “dream come true” to share their artistry in this powerful story.

Produced by Elizabeth Cantillon and starring the Fanning sisters, Brittany Kahane Ward, Reese Witherspoon, and Lauren Neustadter, The Nightingale promises an emotional journey.

In a separate  interview, Dakota said, “We’re very different but very connected. There’s no one I want to succeed more than my sister, and she feels the same.

The 27-year-old actress currently stars in the highly anticipated sci-fi film Predator: Badlands, which is set to be theatrically released in the United States on November 7, 2025.
