In a surprising turn of events, Ted Lasso, which was initially meant to have three seasons, is now in production for its fourth installment.

However, some fans may be disappointed to know that not every main cast member would be returning this time around.

On Monday, July 21, Apple TV+ confirmed that filming for the sports comedy show is officially underway in Kansas City, Missouri, with the beloved cast reuniting on set.

A sneak-peek video teased the return of a few familiar faces, but not everyone was present.

The short video featured Jason Sudeikis, who plays the titular character, joined by Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple and Jeremy Swift all gathered, sharing a meal in a corner booth at a restaurant.

It then cuts to a black screen which reads 'Season four. Now in Production'.

As per the streamer’s press release, the upcoming new season will see some of the original cast returning like Jason, Juno, Hannah, Jeremy, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt. Joining them will be some new additions to the cast like Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely, who will be replacing Gus Turner as Ted’s son, Henry.

Unfortunately for the fans, Phil Dunster, who played the iconic role of Jamie Tarte, was not included in the cast list, and several outlets have reported that the 33-year-old English actor will not be reprising his role in the fourth season of the fan favourite show.

However, according to Deadline, his absence from the show is due to him reportedly being signed on as a series regular in a new HBO production from Ted Lasso’s executive producer Bill Lawrence, leading to a scheduling conflict.

Nick Mohammed, Sarah Niles, Anthony Head, Toheeb Jimoh, James Lance, Cristo Fernandez, Kola Bokinni and Billy Harris, are also notably absent from the cast announcement.
