Hailey Bieber opens up about life-threatening childbirth complication

Hailey Bieber shared her childbirth experience with her first child, Jack Blues Bieber, revealing she nearly died due to severe postpartum hemorrhage.

In an interview with Vogue Italia, the 28-year-old model and founder of RHODE described the terrifying moment that she began bleeding uncontrollably after delivering her son with husband Justin Bieber.

At 39 weeks, Hailey’s labor was induced after her amniotic fluid started leaking.

Doctors used a medical procedure, oxytocin, to trigger contractions and a Foley balloon to widen her cervix.

Though she delivered a healthy 8-pound baby, complications arose when she experienced heavy bleeding due to postpartum hemorrhage.

“I was bleeding a lot. And people die,” Hailey said, admitting the fear that crossed her mind.

She described the situation as the most physically painful experience of her life, but focused on her son Jack’s safety.

Hailey praised her medical team for their quick action, crediting them with saving her life.

Reflecting on the “deeply humbling” experience, she expressed gratitude for her healthy son and the care she received. 

According to the Cleveland Clinic, Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is severe or excessive bleeding after childbirth. It’s a serious, potentially life-threatening condition that requires immediate treatment.
