George Lucas makes his first-ever Comic-Con debut in in the San Diego Convention Center’s iconic Hall H

George Lucas stunned fans after he made his San Diego Comic-Con debut to share exciting news.
On Sunday, July 27, the legendary filmmaker attended his first ever San Diego Comic-Con panel at the San Diego Convention Center’s iconic Hall H, to share details about his museum.
George was joined on stage by filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and production designer Doug Chiang, with Queen Latifah leading the lively discussion.
The panel was held to explore the impact of visual storytelling and give fans a first look at the upcoming George Museum of Narrative Art, which is set to open in 2026, in Los Angeles.
Queen announced that, “We've been waiting five decades for this.”
She continued, “His imagination has lit the path for generations of fans and filmmakers alike. ... Besides being a sci-fi nerd myself, I am so happy to be here to support two of my closest friends, George and his wife Mellody [Hobson]."
Museum co-founder Mellody appeared in a video showcasing concept art and upcoming exhibits featuring works from comic artists, painters and filmmakers.
During the panel discussion, the filmmaker shared that he'd spent 50 years collecting around 40,000 art pieces, starting from his college days.
He joked about being overwhelmed by the pure volume saying, "What am I going to do with it all?" since he had no intention of selling.
Goerge added, the museum would be a "temple to the people's art."
The Museum of Narrative Art will host a collection of noteworthy artists including Charles M. Schulz, Jack Kirby, Norman Rockwell, Kadir Nelson, Jessie Willcox Smith, N. C. Wyeth, Beatrix Potter, Judy Baca, Frida Kahlo and Maxfield Parrish.
