Taylor Swift is stepping into a bold new chapter of her career. The pop superstar announced on Tuesday, Aug. 12 at exactly 12:12 a.m. ET that her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, is on the way, and she lit up one of New York City’s most iconic landmarks to celebrate.

The Empire State Building glowed a vivid orange in honor of the record, with its official Instagram account sharing a photo of the display alongside the caption, “Onto the next era.” The striking color matches the album’s aesthetic, which also features hints of mint green.

Swift unveiled the news in an unexpected setting, during an appearance with her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce on their New Heights podcast.

“Can I show you something?” Swift, teased as she brought out a mint-green briefcase emblazoned with “T.S.” Jason, leaned in with curiosity.

“Okay. What do we got? We got a briefcase? Mint green, with T.S. on it,” he remarked. “Yup,” Swift replied.

When Jason asked what was inside, Swift revealed, “This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl.”

“TS 12!” Travis, 35, exclaimed in excitement.

The announcement followed a glittering orange countdown timer on Swift’s website, which expired at 12:12 a.m. ET.

According to the site, album copies will ship before Oct. 13, though the official release date remains a secret.
