From Anne Hathaway to Beyoncé: 7 A-listers and their best animated roles

Hollywood celebrities often lend their voices to animated movies and shows, bringing characters to life in a whole new way, while using their vocal talents to add personality, humor and drama to animated characters. 

Through voice acting in animations, they get to be part of fun and creative projects which can appeal to both kids and adults.

Some celebrities even get to play lead roles or make cameos in big animated hits as voice acting lets them show off their range beyond live action acting and fans love seeing their favorite stars in animated adventures.

Alec Baldwin as the Boss Baby

While The Boss Baby franchise is not the most appreciated, Alec Baldwin’s performance as the Boss Baby makes the movies enjoyable as he plays the baby like a tough boss, kind of like his roles in TV shows like 30 Rock.

The American actor makes the Boss Baby sound like a real business executive and that’s what makes the movie funny as the Rust star's performance is super important to the movie and it would not work as well with anyone else playing the Boss Baby. 

Even though Alec is not usually a voice actor, he does a great job here.

Beyoncé as Queen Tara

Beyoncé has done voice acting in many animated movies, one of which is the animated movie Epic. 

The Crazy in Love songstress voiced Queen Tara, a strong and regal leader in a fantasy forest world as she knows when to make sure that every living being on her kingdom is safe from any danger or harm.

Steve Carell as Gru

Steve Carell plays Gru, the supervillain protagonist in the Despicable Me movies as The Office actor’s unique way of speaking with a weird accent and tone of voice makes Gru super recognizable and a perfect fit.

Gru could have been a character where the jokes were all around him, but Steve makes Gru feel real and sad too as the Beautiful Boy star does a great job balancing things out, making Gru more than just a funny guy as well as a character people care about.

Tom Hanks as Woody

Tom Hanks has been voicing Woody, the toy cowboy, for almost 30 years in the Toy Story movies. For an actor like Tom with lots of big movies, it is cool that an animated toy is one of his best roles.

Woody is a bit sassy but also really likeable, while the Cast Away star does a great job playing him and his performance is a big reason why the Toy Story movies have lasted so long and are loved by so many people of all ages.

Jack Black as Po

The character Po in Kung Fu Panda was created with the voice actor, Jack Black, in mind.

The Good Will Hunting star added a lot to the dialogue and the animators made the Genie embody his crazy, funny energy as his comedic timing and wild energy make Aladdin really stand out in Disney movies and so many people have tried to copy his style but nobody’s been able to do it like Robin, making sure that his talents in Aladdin will be remembered for a long time.

Anne Hathaway as Little Red Riding Hood

Anne Hathaway voiced Little Red Riding Hood in the animated move Hoodwinked, which showed the beloved fairytale character as a clever and athletic girl, who is part of a twist on the classic children's tale.

The film tells the story of Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf in a funny and action-packed take, with the Love & Other Drugs actress bringing her best voice acting skills to the animated role.
