Postpartum depression is a mood disorder that new mothers face after childbirth.
Most new moms experience postpartum baby blues after giving birth, which commonly include mood swings, crying spells, anxiety and difficulty sleeping.
Here are the celebrity mothers who shared their experience of battling PPD.
Reese Witherspoon

In a 2020 episode of Jameela Jamil’s I Weigh podcast, Reese Witherspoon revealed that she has dealt with multiple cases of postpartum depression.
“I’ve had three kids. After each child I had a different experience. One kid I had kind of mild postpartum, and one kid I had severe postpartum where I had to take pretty heavy medication because I just wasn't thinking straight at all,” she shared.
The Legally Blonde actress also added when she had her third child, she had no postpartum at all.
Chrissy Teigen

The American model shared in an emotional essay she penned for Glamour in March 2017 that after giving birth to her daughter, Luna, in April 2016, she developed severe postpartum depression.
“What basically everyone around me— but me—knew up until December was this: I have postpartum depression,” Chrissy wrote.
She asked herself how she could feel this way when everything was so great.
Following her diagnosis, the cookbook author began taking antidepressants.
Adele

The Some One Like You hitmaker revealed that she was resistant to talk to anyone about her symptoms of postpartum depression after giving birth to her son, Angelo, in 2012.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Adele explained that she didn't start to feel seen and better until she began talking about it with her friends who were also going through the same experience.
Courtney Cox

In a 2005 USA Today interview, the Friends alum shared that she went through a difficult time when her daughter, Coco, turned 6 months old.
“I couldn't sleep. My heart was racing. And I got really depressed. I went to the doctor and found out my hormones had been pummeled,” Courtney said.
Princess Diana

In a 1995 interview with Martin Bashir for the BBC show Panorama, Diana disclosed that after a difficult pregnancy, she suffered postpartum depression.
“Then I was unwell with postnatal depression, which no ever discussed, postnatal depression, you have to read about it afterwards, and then in itself was a bit of a difficult time, “ she said.
Prince William and Prince Harry’s late mother further shared that she would wake up in the morning with no energy to even get out of bed, often leading to people misunderstanding her.
