Super Mario Galaxy movie: Inside the buzz around Nintendo's next big hit

Once again, Mario is preparing for liftoff. This time, the journey seems to be nothing short of adventuresome. Following the unprecedented success of the Super Mario Bros Movie, Nintendo and Illumination are teaming up again to deliver a sequel for the Super Mario Galaxy video game.

Adjacent to mushroom kingdom

While the previous movie focused on the rich and bustling culture of the Mushroom Kingdom, the sequel aims straight for the stars.

Super Mario Galaxy is the main inspiration for Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach on their interplanetary voyage. Anticipate picturesque planets, peculiar galaxies, and stunning action sequences driven by perplexing gravitational forces. 

Rosalinas big debut

Numerous fans have all been waiting for Rosalina, the keeper of the stars, and now she is set to make an appearance. Her inclusion adds a layer of complexity and emotion to the otherwise shallow Mario game. Given that she is a wise Lumas caretaker, Rosalina is bound to add new conflicts to Mario’s already complicated space journey. This new storyline will most likely contain deep emotion set against intense battle scenes.

Old characters apart from others

Everyone is expecting for Chris Pratt , Charlie Day , Anya Taylor Joy , and Jack Black to reprise onto their characters for the sequel. Their roles brought a unique charm and vitality to the previous film.

This and the previous film will help to build a seamless transition for the sequel. However, fans will be left intrigued to find out which A-List celebrity will take the spot of Rosalina and is there a chance that Bowser Jr. will also make his big screen debut.

Increased stakes, even tougher antagonist

It is said that Bowser has not completely “lost” the first film, or at least been defeated for the first time. Reports indicate that he wishes to expand his domain to the rest of the galaxy and not just the mushroom dimension.

With this new ambition, he plans to take over the cosmos. This is where Mario and his friends will be challenged the most. With new powers, and new spaces to explore, along with Rosalina, the hurdles will be more massive than ever.

Rumors about release date

According to an Insider from the game industry, it is expected that the game will be dropped for players in the year 2026. This has not been confirmed by Nintendo - nor is there an official release date.

However, it has been said that Nintendo is currently working on the production for the game and that will allow them to release teasers to help promote the game in the next year.
