From misdiagnoses to strokes behind the spotlight, here are some celebrities who’ve faced serious health challenges:
Halsey
The Without Me hitmaker was diagnosed with endometriosis when she was 21, after experiencing excruciating pain.
For those unversed, Endometriosis is defined as "a condition in which cells similar to the lining of the uterus, or endometrium, grow outside the uterus."
Halsey has been transparent about her health journey with her fans, which has included being misdiagnosed, undergoing multiple surgeries, and suffering a misscarriage.
Sarah Hyland
The Modern Family alum has been battling kidney dysplasia ever since she was a child. It’s a condition where your kidneys don’t develop properly in the womb.
Sarah has undergone two kidney transplants: once her father donated his kidney in 2012, but her body rejected it.
In 2017, she received a second transplant from her brother.
Nick Jonas
The Jealous crooner learned he had Type 1 diabetes back in 2005, when he was just 13.
Nick was touring with his brothers at the time he found out about his health scare. He was worried that it might put an end to his dreams of becoming a singer.
Emilia Clarke
The British actress suffered two brain hemorrhages in her mid-20s while filming Games of Thrones.
"I had my first one right after we filmed the first season of 'Game of Thrones'," she said in an interview with Live with Kelly and Mark.
Emilia added, "It happened again like three years later. I had two mirror aneurysms and both of them ruptured, unfortunately. Sadly enough, the second one was when I was in a preventative procedure, and it went wrong."
In another interview, she shared how she was ready to give up on her life at one point when she couldn’t even remember her own name.
Aubrey Plaza
The comedian suffered a stroke at the age of 20 which left her paralysed for a brief moment.
Aubrey revealed that she forgot how to talk, describing the experience as the “freakiest thing”.
