Macaulay Culkin reflects on potential ‘Home Alone’ return during movie’s anniversary tour
Macaulay Culkin is celebrating 35 years of ‘Home Alone’
Macaulay Culkin has revealed his idea for Home Alone’s return — 35 years after the original film’s release.
The 45-year-old star recently made a stop for the film’s anniversary tour, A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin.
While speaking at the event, he said that he “kind of had this idea” about a third Home Alone film starring himself.
“I’m either a widower or a divorcee. I’m raising a kid and all that stuff. I’m working really hard and I’m not really paying enough attention and the kid is kind of getting miffed at me and then I get locked out,” Culkin described.
He further explained that his character, Kevin McCallister’s son “won’t let me in… and he’s the one setting traps for me.”
The former child star shared that the house could be “some sort of metaphor” for Kevin’s relationship with his hypothetical son.
“That’s the closest elevator pitch that I have. I’m not completely allergic to it, the right thing,” he added.
Macaulay Culkin became a bonafide star after starring in 1990’s Home Alone — a status which was only furthered after his appearance in its sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, in 1992.
Meanwhile, the film’s 35th anniversary tour dates have been listed between November 29 and December 12 on its official website, as the show is set to navigate across multiple American states.
