Prince Harry will have his security needs reassessed in a major win secured by him after losing the case for it back in May.

However, the only institution in charge of the newly decided review is the royal panel with whom the Duke of Sussex has been at odds with in the past.

GB News reported that Harry’s case will be reviewed by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) while “no ministerial involvement will occur at any stage of the evaluation”.

“The decision is understood to rest entirely with Ravec’s independent chair, who holds sole authority over both the risk assessment process and the final ruling on restoring the Duke of Sussex’s security arrangements,” the report added.

It was revealed earlier that Harry had won the reassessment after privately writing to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, who was appointed by the British government in September — three months after the Duke’s loss in a London court.

The 41-year-old royal had previously blamed Ravec for endangering his wife, Meghan Markle, when she initially became a part of the royal household.

“In November 2017, before the Royal Household’s role on RAVEC was known, this secretive committee concluded that when my wife would join the royal family, she should not receive protection. Only when I asked for the name of the person willing to carry that risk, did they reverse the decision,” Harry revealed in his statement, shared via the official website for the Sussex camp, after his loss in May.

Citing further negligence in 2020 and the subsequent loss of his security for the first time “since birth”, his statement added, “This reckless action knowingly put me and my family in harm’s way. Life is precious and I understand the fragility of it.”

Ravec’s last security review for Prince Harry was carried out in 2019 — a year before he and Meghan left for the US with their son, Prince Archie, with their daughter Princess Lilibet being born outside the UK.
