Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson to light up ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise once again

Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to reprise their roles for the upcoming film, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, a prequel to the original franchise led by the two stars.

Playing Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark in the Hunger Games films released between 2012 and 2015, Lawrence and Hutcherson will return to the arena a decade after they had wrapped the last film, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.

The Hollywood Reporter has claimed that the pair will likely feature “in a flash-forward” while no further details “have been disclosed.”

With Francis Lawrence directing the forthcoming prequel, Lawrence and Hutcherson will join a cast which includes Ralph Fiennes, Elle Fanning, Jesse Plemons, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Kieran Culkin, Maya Hawke, Glenn Close, and more.

THR’s report added, “The book ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ takes place in Panem on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, 24 years before the events in ‘The Hunger Games’, the first novel that published in 2008.”

The literary series was first adapted for the screen as 2012’s The Hunger Games, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth as the story’s core trio.
