The highly awaited next movie from Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey is set to debut an extended trailer at various 70mm IMAX screenings.

According to Deadline, the upcoming film was shot entirely with IMAX cameras, making IMAX 70mm screens the ideal format for viewing the movie.

The nearly six-minute prologue will play ahead of IMAX 70mm screenings of Sinners and One Battle After Another starting December 12.

While from December 19, a shorter preview of The Odyssey will accompany all screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash, with the extended trailer set to run exclusively before IMAX showings of the James Cameron film.

The Odyssey is an adaptation of Homer’s epic poem about Odysseus, King of Ithaca, and his risky journey home after the Trojan War.

The film’s cast includes Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, and Elliot Page, among others.

Holland is set to play Telemachus in the adaptation of Homer’s classic and has praised the experience of working with Nolan.

“The script is the best script I’ve ever read, Chris [Nolan] is a real collaborator. He knows what he wants but it is not an environment where you can’t pitch ideas or build characters in certain ways,” he said during a previous interview with France 24.

The Spider-Man actor added, “It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen. Working with Chris, getting to know him and Emma [Thomas] was absolutely fantastic. I’ve never seen someone that can work the way that they do, and there is a reason why they’re the best in the business for sure.”

It is worth noting that The Odyssey is scheduled to be released on July 17, 2026
