Amanda Seyfried shares real reason behind turning down Marvel role
‘The Housemaid’ star Amanda Seyfried addresses Marvel offer on latest episode of Lie Detector series
Amanda Seyfried recently revealed real reason behind turning down Marvel’s offer.
The Housemaid star along with her co-star Sydney Sweeney made surprising revelations during an appearance on the latest episode of Vanity Fair’s Lie Detector series.
During the test, the Anyone But You actress, who knew Amanda rejected the Guardians of the Galaxy role offer, asked her that she had “no regrets in refusing the role of Gamora in the MCU”.
Sydney said, “Do you wish I had consulted you before joining the MCU?”
The Mamma Mia! actress replied, “No, because I just didn’t wanna sit around getting painted for more hours than my acting time.”
Earlier this year, Amanda appeared on Happy Sad Confused podcast and thought that the movie would be first flop of MCU.
“I was really scared of the idea of being stuck and painted a different colour because of the amount of time [it takes],” said the 40-year-old.
However, Amanda admitted that it was “a giant opportunity” and she even “met James Cameron in person”.
“I definitely got the offer for it and I mulled over it for a couple days. I didn’t want to live in London for six months out of the year,” continued the Dear John actress.
Amanda clarified that she thought the movie was about “a talking tree and a talking raccoon”, so, it would be Marvel’s first bomb and she would never be able to work again with the studio.
“I was wrong! But I was just being smart. It’s not brave,” she added.
