Zendaya shares moment she realised Tom Holland is 'my person'

Zendaya is reminiscing about feeling "very relaxed" when she first encountered Tom Holland.
During her appearance on The New York Times' Modern Love podcast to chat about her latest movie with Robert Pattinson, The Drama, Zendaya, 29, reflected on her initial encounter with Holland, 29, during their screen test for the 2017 film Spider-Man: Homecoming.
"I realised he is my person because with him, I'm not anxious,” she mentioned about Holland.
“I feel such tranquility, and I actually feel more jittery when he’s not around than when he is."
Since Holland was introduced to her during an audition, Zendaya admitted feeling “rather nervous already."
When Modern Love podcast host Anna Martin inquired whether Zendaya could explain how Holland "brought a sense of calm" during the Homecoming screen test, the actress said, "Just by being genuinely kind. Making me feel at ease. I mean, it felt like doing a chemistry read for a major film of that magnitude. It’s like, you really want that role and all. And yes, he was incredibly nice then."

Zendaya joined him, playing Michelle "M.J." Jones in Homecoming. Her role eventually developed into Peter's love interest in the 2019 sequel Spider-Man: Far From Home and 2021's No Way Home.
Insiders informed PEOPLE that Zendaya and Holland were romantically connected since 2017, though they did not publicly confirm their relationship until 2021.
PEOPLE initially verified that Holland and Zendaya were engaged in January 2025. Zendaya's longtime stylist Law Roach suggested the duo might already be married during a conversation at the 2026 Actor Awards on March 1.
Holland and Zendaya haven't confirmed if they have formally wed.
The Drama hits theaters on April 3. Zendaya and Holland's fourth Spider-Man film together, Brand New Day, arrives in theaters on July 31.
Additionally, they both feature in The Odyssey, debuting on July 17.
