Hugh Jackman shares unforgettable karaoke moment with music icon Neil Diamond

Hugh Jackman had an unforgettable moment after getting the chance to sing alongside a true music legend.

In his upcoming film Song Sung Blue, the 57-year-old actor portrays Mike Sardina, one half of the Neil Diamond tribute band Lightning & Thunder.

Ahead of the movie's release, Jackman spent time with the 84-year-old music legend and even joined him for an impromptu karaoke session.

Speaking during an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the film's New York City premiere on December 11, Jackman recalled the memorable moment, joking, "So when you go to Neil's place for dinner and he says, 'Do you wanna do karaoke?' 100% you say yes.”

The Logan star added that there were two essentials for the experience, "You make sure your phone is charged and someone is videoing that."

Jackman later shared a glimpse of the night on Instagram, October 28, posting a photo of himself and Diamond holding microphones with their arms around each other.

He captioned it, "What a day!! @neildiamond & @malibubirds thank you for an extraordinary visit. It was one that I could never have dreamt could or would come true! So special to spend time, to share, laugh and to sing karaoke!"

Though Jackman's filming has wrapped, the music hasn’t stopped. 

Earlier this month, the Real Steel actor and co-star Kate Hudson surprised fans at Old Mates Pub in New York City after the 2025 Gotham Awards.

The duo led the crowd in Neil Diamond classics, including Forever in Blue Jeans, Crunchy Granola Suite and Sweet Caroline, with Hugh Jackman even climbing onto the bar to urge everyone to raise the roof.

Song Sung Blue, starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson, will arrive in theaters on December 25.
