Dick Van Dyke celebrates 100 years of life: Comedy legend says ‘it’s not enough’

Dick Van Dyke is officially 100 years old — the comedy and acting legend’s birthday on December 13 made for a prominent pop culture countdown for most of the year.

Reflecting on the milestone occasion, the Mary Poppins alum did an interview with ABC News from his residence in Malibu, California.

“The funniest thing is, it’s not enough,” he quipped. “A hundred years is not enough. You want to live more, which I plan to.”

While he further chose to clarify the usually perceived image of old men as being cranky, one he admitted contributing to, saying, “You know, I played old men a lot, and I always played them as angry and cantankerous. It’s not really that way. I don’t know any other 100-year-olds, but I can speak for myself.”

The highly decorated artist also authored a book titled 100 Rules for Living to 100: An Optimist’s Guide to a Happy Life, which was published in November, while cinemas across the US will be showing a documentary based on his life to mark the joyous occasion.

Dick Van Dyke: 100th Celebration will be screened for the big screen on December 13 and 14.
