Rob Reiner, Michele Reiner confirmed dead by family: ‘We are heartbroken’

Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, were found dead at their California residence by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) on Sunday, December 14.

While their deaths were not immediately confirmed, with the initial reports merely claiming that a homicide scene was discovered at their home, the Reiner family is now corroborating the devastating incident.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time,” Rob and Michele’s family stated to Variety.

In what has since been discovered to be a case of double homicide, PEOPLE cited “multiple sources” while reporting that “that the couple were killed by their son, Nick.”

“News initially broke that two people had been found dead at the director's home, before it was confirmed that he and Michele were the victims,” the outlet further revealed. While TMZ were the first to report that the deceased pair’s wounds resembled a knife attack.

Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner had been married since 1989 and shared three children together — Jake, Romy, and Nick. Their daughter Romy was the first to find her parents after the tragedy.
